Hello, I’m Robin

In 2003, a major daily newspaper asked me to write a weekly column about music. I said yes (obviously). That led me to magazine features writing, where I honed my craft telling other people’s stories before transitioning to editing in 2011. That same year, I took on my first-ever book client.

Since then, I’ve edited and written for companies like Google, Coursera, Ethereum, UNICEF, and Cartier; crafted books for MLB athletes, Grammy Award-winners, top entrepreneurs, and Amazon reality stars; and earned a mention in TIME magazine.

More than 11,000 projects later (yes, really), I’ve taken everything I learned and built Starling Publishing to help authors create exceptional books.

Today, I lead a unique studio with a small expert team and a structured publishing workflow, combining trust, accountability, and quality to produce great books that authors are genuinely proud to put their names on.

Who We Are

We're a small publishing studio for self-publishing authors of nonfiction, memoir, and fiction. Every manuscript is edited by a senior team that works to my standards, catching what a single editor would miss. From there, we handle cover design, interior layout, metadata, and upload to your own account. No content-mill freelancers, no guesswork—just myself and a small expert team invested in your success.

Our offices are in Helsinki, and we work with authors across the United States and around the world.

Every package includes comprehensive copyediting and line editing with targeted feedback, proofreading, interior layout for print and ebook, custom cover design for all formats, professional SEO and sales description optimization, publishing upload to your Amazon KDP and/or IngramSpark account, and more.

You retain 100% of your copyright and royalties, and publishing is done in your own account, with you as the publisher of record.

Each book we work on undergoes editing, proofreading, cover design, print and ebook layout, SEO and metadata, pricing guidance, and publishing upload.

Our 5-phase book production process

1 round of comprehensive copyediting/line editing with targeted developmental feedback, 2 rounds of light revisions for any changes you make based on my feedback, and 1 full round of proofreading on the galleys (post-layout book files) to catch any final errors.

A professional, sharp, eye-catching custom cover design based on your specifications that invites readers to click. Includes 3 initial design directions and unlimited revisions within your selected design.

Cover Design

Typesetting of a beautifully designed bespoke book interior for print and ebook, for an optimal reading experience that’s easy on the eyes. We work in Adobe InDesign, the industry-standard tool for the job. Includes 3 design revisions.

Layout

Metadata, keyword, and category optimization so your book can be found by your target readers: title and subtitle, sales description, keywords, categories, back cover copy, an editorial review, and pricing guidance.

SEO & Metadata

Done-for-you upload of your book to your own Amazon KDP account and/or IngramSpark account, including publishing, preorder and launch setup, or preparing everything so it’s ready when you’re ready to hit “publish.”
